Case Description
While traveling home from morning mass to his home, SIgnor Gabriel dalla Riva was ambushed and attacked by Giulio Guarience, Cosimo Sommariva, Francesco Venturini, and five or six other armed men. The victim was abandoned by his two grooms who fled leaving him to defend himself only with his dress sword against the attackers. Dalla Riva was left wounded in three places with sword cuts which placed him in critical condition. He was saved only by the intervention of witnesses and neighbors who quickly rose to arms and chased the attackers away.
Motive
Enmity & legal dispute - Signor Gabriel dalla Riva was embroiled in property disputes and civil lawsuits with Giulio Guarience's brother Francesco.
