Innocenzio was guarding his melons, when three men came his way, one of whom had a ronca, one had a pistol, and one with nothing, and Innocenzio got up, and the one with the pistol put him in a headlock and they started wrestling, and the assailant with the pistol shot him in the back

argument over territory Gio Maria works/owns the melon patch next to Innocenzio's, and had accused Innocenzio of stealing watermelons
