Case Description

During the 1586 Saint Stephen's Day guerra di pugni at the Ponte dei Carmini (see cases 4062 and 4063), Francesco Garzola and Zanato Tagliapiera assaulted multiple victims with thrown rocks. When other officials went to aid Captain Bortolo Forner who was thrown into the river, these men threw stones at the officials and injured Piero di Rossi who was trying to aid Forner. They also threw rocks at a nearby house where some noblemen had gathered to watch the occasion. Among these noblemen was Giacomo Foscarini, a Cavaliere and Procurator.
