Case #1833
Case Description
Francesco Pausari was killed at the public market of Albaredo when he was suddenly assaulted by three henchmen of Count Giovanni Battista Serego and armored soldiers. They struck him in the head with an arquebus and one shot him with a pistol.
Motive
Following the death of Ippolito Aliberti (of Michelone Felice Grimaldo), his son Annibale was left as a minor heir under the guardianship of of Count G.B. Serego. Desperate for money Annibale sought to sell two cows loaned to him by the count and settled a contract with Pausari. When Pausari took the cows from the Count's field he was pursued by the Count and a few of his men who overtook Pausari and reclaimed the animals. The Count later paid the minor a half value sum for the cows. This flare up was what drove the Count to murder Pausari.
