Case Description
The body of Sergeant Giordano Simonelli was found dead along the highway between Povegliano and Ovesan. He was killed by two unidentified soldiers of Count Strozzi who lured him out of Verona under false pretenses of companionship and performing duties for Strozzi. The assailants let Simonelli ride forward before shooting him with an arquebus and then stabbing him five times in the head and torso with stilettos.
Motive
Mandate - the two soldiers were believed to acted upon the orders of Count Strozzi and the Lords of the Canossa family with Councilor Carlo Canossa under particular scrutiny. Due to fear witnesses refused to offer concrete evidence against these men.
