homicide Homicide Fatal

Case Description

The body of Sergeant Giordano Simonelli was found dead along the highway between Povegliano and Ovesan. The assailants let Simonelli ride forward before shooting him with an arquebus and then stabbing him five times in the head and torso with stilettos.

Motive

Mandate - the two soldiers were believed to acted upon the orders of Count Strozzi and the Lords of the Canossa family with Councilor Carlo Canossa under particular scrutiny. Due to fear witnesses refused to offer concrete evidence against these men.
