Case Description

Shepherds travelling towards Mantuan territory were taking refuge in Bussolengo under the porticoes of San Valentino when they were attacked by the Ruffoni brothers with "continuous, sweeping arquebus volleys" from their house opposite. One shepherd was wounded and they were extorted, five castrated sheep were stolen, and they were prevented from reporting this crime to authorities.
