Case #4066
Case Description
The town of Lendinara was raided at night by a band of around 40 men armed with arquebuses. The band included Sigismondo Cattaneo, Lodovico and Pompeo Bellagia, Claudio Montin, Zamaria Vason, and Fulvio and Troian of Imola. They gathered at the houses of the Perobelli, Conti, and Tornieli families near the town square. The assailants tried to kill Silvio dei Conti, a Perobelli, and others with arquebus fire and proceeded to barricade the streets. Unable to kill their targets they set fire to Perobelli's house trying to burn them alive inside and then ransacked the houses of Conti and Tornieli. They made off with thousands of ducats of stolen valuables from the houses and left the town. They then coerced peasants in the village of Remo di Palo to give them fresh horses for their escape into foreign territory.
