Case #1876
Case Description
Three public officials, ministers of the court, were accosted by thugs of Count Girolamo Maffei while passing by said lord's house. Initially they insulted and threatened the officials claiming that if they had firearms with them they would have killed the officials. Said officials when returning from their business took a different route to avoid the house, but the thugs were still waiting for them and attacked with three arquebus volleys. The shots missed and the officials escaped unharmed.
Motive
Count Girolamo Maffei had been placed under house arrest in his own home due to a long running feud with Count Girolamo Somotiva. This motivated the enmity with and for public officials whereby the thugs claimed that Minsters of State Justice were forbidden from walking along the street in front of the Count's house.
