Case Description

That Tottolo Castellan and Piero Chelelia, scandalous men and public thugs are accused that in the company of others, on Friday morning the 2nd of the present month [September] they were so bold that they freed from the Church of San Giovanni di Rialto in the presence of many people, a public thief; backing him up in such a way that he fled, with much scandal to everyone. Adding to this, on the evening of the same day, in the Office of the Lords of the Night at the Criminal Court; where with great daring they spoke insolently before the same Lords; and then, at the door, pushed and shoved them without any respect while holding their hands upon their weapons and fleeing with naked daggers, with little regard for the Magistrate, and with very great scandal to all.
