Case Description
That Ser Mattio Barbarigo, son of the late Ser Gierolamo absent but legitimately cited for having, while he was Provveditore of Asola caused his Coachman to overturn the carriage in which was found the late noblewoman Petra Benedetto, his wife from a bridge into the river Chiese, to the end that she would remain in those waters drowned; and even though by said Coachman [the coach] was overturned and precipitated into said river the said noblewoman was saved, however, by persons who ran to her aid. Afterwards, to hide the aforesaid operation he had a soldier of that fortress kill the Coachman. And continuing in his evil intent; Finally, on the 12th of July last past, around midday he wounded her with many wounds using a sharp weapon, in their own proper house, chasing her even into the public street so that having retreated into another neighboring house, there having fallen, she immediately died.
