Case Description

That Serterio Miniscalco, Veronese Knight, accused, having remained dissatisfied with the late Doctor Ruberto Amaducci, Doctor [of Law] and Advocate in Verona, because, having—at the instance of Anzolo Zuffello, Doctor, his [Miniscalco's] lawyer and very close friend sought him [Amaducci] with repeated and efficacious instances to give into his power certain important deeds which belonged to the pious Hospital of the Merchants of that city, instituted as heir by the father of this Zuffello; And this Amaducci not having wanted to consent to this infidelity, but rather refused to give them to him. this Knight Miniscalco, indignant for this cause, first threatened the said Doctor Amaducci; And a few days later, he sent armed men to him who, having on the day of Monday, the 12th of the month of December recently passed, insidiously awaited him; That he [Amaducci], in departing from the Bishop's Palace, where he had been to dispute some cases, had approached the house of his habitation; From the back way alley, with Pistolesi and other weapons, they assaulted him and they wounded him in the arms, severing the hand from his left arm continuing to strike him even [while he was] on the ground; from which wounds the said Doctor Amaducci passed to another life. Said Knight [Miniscalco] then withdrew himself outside the city as also did the aforesaid three hitmen just as was understood from the letters of the Rectors of Verona of the 17th of the present [month].
