Giovanni was in a field with his consort (the field was her dowry) when Sabbatino arrived and told them to leave so he could plant seeds there, she told him no, he started hitting her with a stick, and (according to the Massaro) Giovanni went after him and Sabbatino bashed him in the head good and he fell to the ground almost dead
