Case Description

Matteo came to Gentile's house, who is a "damsel with whom he was courting" then left Gentile's, saying good evening to her brother, having found out that Gentile was in her fields guarding a pear tree ("bergamina") and Matteo arrived there alone and stabbed Gentile in the back, through her chest with a stilletto. Gentile was carried to her house by her brother and the wife (Giovanna) of a man from Zola and died half an hour later

Motive

Gentile refused to move in with Matteo and wanted to stay living with her brother, says Giovanna
