Cristoforo and his friend are heading towards Bologna on horseback when they encounter Battistina coming the other way in the woods of Lazarus; because they do not like each other, each demands that the other make way for him ("Move to one side!" "I don't want to move, I won't be challenged by you!" and then Cristoforo got off his horse and they shot at each other
