Valeria was being courted by Carlo dell'Arme, who sent her "acts of love" and invited her to dinner at the Compagnia della Madonna del Piombo; after dinner she started to feel sick and had to be taken home by her servant and Camillo, and she said she had been poisoned, and by morning she was dead; pubblica voce says she was poisoned as well
