Case Description

a "giovine montanaro" (Matteo Finale) knocks on Francesco's door and claims he has a letter for him, and is a friend; Francesco lets him in and he takes the letter, and while he is looking at it (hasn't opened it) the montanaro knifes him five or six times; the letter is in fact empty and just a ruse ; Francesco survives long enough to blame the Querciola family

"ex causa litis de mandatis patrati in personam Francesco Gnudi" - Francesco is helping his boss' cousin Ludovica prosecute a civil process against the Querciola sister/daugher
