Pietro Favolo was murdered by two arquebus shots heard by neighbors while traveling through the valley of Castel Vero. His corpse was discovered in the morning by passing travelers and the assailants were believed to be the priest Giovanni Battista Lora and the Ferrari brothers Battista and Zuanne. After the body was found the people of the commune assembled under the sounding of alarm bells and attempted to capture the Ferrari brothers as they fled but were unsuccessful.

Motive

Enmity - Lora and his accomplices, known to be close associates, were already indicted upon criminal charges and the victim it seems was the son-in-law of the principal complainant against Lora.
